Chilean industrial design studio Pecas has created ‘Stool Fase #3’ using a new material called demodé. It exploits and rescues wasted textile from factories in Santiago, Chile before being used by the consumer. The high percentage cotton mix is blended together with a biodegradable adhesive where it maintains high structural strength after being sealed with greenwash.
The composite is used to make panels and modules, wall cladding, interior design objects, among others. Demodé is available in a wide range of colors that are classified by the color of the waste. It can be manipulated by sawing, drilling, sanding, screwing, gluing, joining with other materials.
