In Kuala Lumpur, the Steven Leach Group crafted the Global Investment Service Offices to foster collaboration and well-being, seamlessly integrating natural elements and flexible spaces within a vibrant, technology-driven environment.

With a growing emphasis on strengthening the economic prowess of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur is the perfect place for companies to thrive and make remarkable progress. Situated in one of the tallest iconic skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, our client has rapidly expanded operations since their initial phase of development was completed in June 2024. Shortly after, the team at SL+A helped to implement the second phase of the office expansion and we were thrilled to bring many exciting design ideas to fruition just one year later. As a global leader in investor and asset services, this firm is propelled forward by the belief of being ‘Brilliantly Different’.

Embracing the allure of contemporary design and timeless architecture, SL+A worked to create distinct spaces to accommodate a total capacity of 150 pax, while the organization continues to expand further along the way. Bringing natural elements inside was one way to embody a lush and vibrant setting – the workspace integrates greenery as a key design feature. Neutral color palettes give a soft and calming atmosphere, while bold green elements energize the interior and helps connect people to nature. Improved air quality, noise reduction, enhancement of creativity and calming aesthetics all contribute to a better work environment, paving the way for boosts in well-being and productivity.

The unique “Timber Tunnel” Experience highlights the interplay of light, shadow, and natural timber, creating a distinctive spatial journey that separates workspace from client-facing areas.

Incorporating live plants truly enhances the office environment, the extensive use of moss walls highlights the connection between nature and the workplace environment – resulting in a deep sense of balance and vitality. The patterns give the sense of dynamic movement which symbolizes the rapid growth and synergy in the company. With a bold personal workspace approach, our designers incorporated matte black worktops and furniture made of solid wood in a modular system to emphasize sustainability, adding both strength and sophistication to the workspace.

Abundant natural daylight and stunning panoramic views of the KL City Centre are optimized for the space through smart layout and strategic planning. Meeting rooms and private workrooms are situated within the building core to enhance productivity while allowing undisturbed access to the floor-to-ceiling windows around the perimeter of the office.

Top notch amenities and facilities include prayer rooms, wellness and nursing spaces, along with a stocked ‘games room’ that fits with the company priority to encourage wellbeing and embrace connection among colleagues.

Finally, there was a focus on flexible design features that thoughtfully allows spaces to be utilized to their full potential – for instance, the training room can be merged with the breakout space, enabling a townhall setup when needed. Extensive use of phone booths and collaborative furniture supports modern, dynamic work styles that showcases how we can intertwine technology, access and strategy to streamline daily tasks while enhancing communication and infrastructure promoting efficiency.

SL+A demonstrates that a technology-driven workspace with an emphasis on flexible design with human centered layouts can bridge the gap for companies that are invested in collaborative growth for a brighter future. We worked tirelessly to complete the second phase of expansion for the client and brought a balanced, innovative workspace that redefines modern design for a company reinventing the stage for investor and asset services.
