Following its longtime outpost in SoHo, Acne Studios has recently inaugurated a second retail space in New York City. The Stockholm-based brand has secured a spacious unit in a historic building situated directly across from the Whitney Museum of Art. The stately façade with its large floor-to-ceiling glass allows passers-by ample peeks of the collaborative interior design by Acne Studios creative director Jonny Johansson and Swedish design practice Halleröd. The understated settings flaunt the brand’s latest retail design codes, featuring monolithic columns clad in stone or mirror, recalling the work of the American minimalist movement, and flooring and wall sections covered in pink granite tiles, Acne Studios‘ signature hue. Offering a textural contrast to the austere backdrop is a series of furnishings, such as leather sofas and armchairs, created by London-based designer Max Lamb, in addition to a collection of wooden stools, chairs and daybeds. The new Acne Studios store carries the full range of women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, bags, shoes, jewellery pieces, and eyewear. © superfuture
