The recent inauguration of ALAÏA‘s newest boutique in São Paulo is not only indicative of the city’s stature as an economic powerhouse, but also as a home to a sizeable, highly discerning fashion demographic. The French fashion house, founded by legendary French-Tunisian designer Azzedine Alaïa (1935-2017) in 1964, is on a roll, continuing its global retail expansion in key markets and shopping destinations. ALAÏA has secured a unit of approx. 200 sqm. (2,153 sq.ft.) on the ground floor of Cidade Jardim, one of the city’s leading luxury shoppingアライア centres, featuring an interior design by Stockholm-based architecture practice and longtime collaborator Halleröd. Interestingly, the sleek modern design blends elements of the brand, such as the porthole ceiling lights, with Brazilian materials, including dark timber for panelling en locally sourced black marble as flooring. A large floor-to-ceiling mirror adds to the visual drama of the setting. Additionally, the ALAÏA store sees furnishings that anchor the design of the premises, notably the two commissioned Mollo sofas by London-based Canadian designer Philippe Malouin, and carefully sourced vintage pieces by Brazilian architect and furniture designer Sérgio Rodrigues. The ALAÏA store comes with a semi-secluded Shoe Library, entirely captured by dark timber, and obviously, brimming with the latest shoe designs. The new ALAÏA store carries the full range of women’s apparel, accessories, bags and shoes. © superfuture
