Los Angeles-based artist Pae White recently opened an impressive new show at Peckham’s South London Gallery entitled Too Much Night, Again. Inspired by a period of insomnia, the large installation sees over 48,000 meters of coloured yarn criss-cross the room to create supergraphics spelling out the words TIGER TIME and UNMATTERING – both of which can only be deciphered by immersing yourself in the space.
Pae’s work is often characterised by its transient nature, with previous installations including gold-lined popcorn kernels suspended from transparent thread and tapestries of swirling smoke plumes. The exhibition is completely free and is running from now until 12 May, 2013.
