Volcano Corporation, one of San Diego’s fastest growing companies, is revolutionizing the medical device industry around the world with a broad suite of technologies that make imaging and therapy simpler, more informative and less invasive. Founded in cardiovascular care and expanding into other specialties, Volcano is changing the assumption about what is possible in improving patient outcomes by combining imaging and therapy together.

Volcano’s vision for the design of their new office space in San Diego was to express their culture through the physical work environment, reflecting the innovative, dynamic and personal spirit that is Volcano. The goal was a contemporary, clean, open-concept environment where employees can more freely create and collaborate on ideas, projects and products that improve the lives of patients worldwide. Other goals for the expansion and the design were to bring more jobs to San Diego, and to attract, develop and retain employees that embody the Volcano spirit.

The project team was inspired by the energetic, motivated and passionate spirit of Volcano’s people. It was imperative to reflect this positive, playful “connected spirit” as well as integrate the product “brand” to employees and clients on all four floors of the new corporate headquarters.
