MatchesFashion store by SFD, London – UK

December 12th, 2016 by retail design blog

Matches has just opened its first outlet store in East London’s increasingly fashionable Hackney Walk. The latest outpost is the brand’s fifth bricks and mortar store, joining the likes of Aquascutum, Joseph and Nike in the recently opened development which sits opposite Burberry’s longstanding Hackney outlet.

Housed within railway arches, the two adjoining units – stocking both men’s and women’s collections – provided challenges in shape and space, demanding a creative and inventive approach to their store design. The resulting concept respected both the local area and unique space as well as the identity of Matches and the premium brands it stocks. Reclaimed timber flooring, raw steel tube fixtures and striking Barrisol-style lighting create an environment that’s visually inspiring yet commercially practical.
