London-based design agency Offbeat Creative carried out the rebrand and interior design for Carioca, a Brazilian street food concept based in Boxpark Croydon. Carioca’s new brand identity celebrates the energy of Rio de Janeiro through quirky artwork, snap-worthy interior design and a contemporary Brazilian menu. Bespoke artwork brings the brand to life through Carioca’s packaging, uniform and interior graphics. Offbeat created a striking orange and pink Pop Art-style pattern of Brazilian icon Carmen Miranda that is used across a variety of the branded materials.

Carioca’s specialised menu is personalised by a series of customised stickers. The sticker designs take inspiration from the vibrant culture of Rio. ‘Samba’ adopts a fiesta style whilst ‘The Redeemer’ utilises the Christ figure. The use of unique patterns and energetic colour combinations give each dish its own character. Offbeat Creative has transformed the interior design to replicate elements of the favela through reclaimed materials, including corrugated steel and OSB board. A Rio-inspired illustrative collage stretches across the length of the unit and gives Carioca’s atmosphere a distinctive flavour and punchy impact.
