Mhondoro is a Game Lodge in the south of Africa, in the heart of a unique nature reserve with an incredible view of the big 5. In 2015, All-In living completely redesigned the Lodge and its interior: the main lodge, four luxurious suites, the villa, gym, restaurant and spa.
The interiors of the different areas exude a typical African atmosphere, but with a European flavour. The aim of the renovation was to create the perfect blend of luxury and safari. But comfort and leisure also played an important part. We picked local products and materials but also luxurious and exclusive wallpaper brands from Europe. Using local artists such as Clinton Friedman to style this project, we were able to create the perfect combination of ‘chic and local’.
To give the interior design a unique and personal character, we designed several pieces of custom furniture. We used robust and natural materials that enhance the feeling of the African nature and wilderness. Designing the furniture ourselves allowed us to seamlessly connect the design with the architecture.
Renovating the Lodge included designing the restaurant’s interior. The Mhondoro kitchen is well-known for its gastronomic delights and this needs a distinctive interior. One way we accomplished this is by creating a wall from hanging plants. This original and unique screen doesn’t just establish privacy; it also literally produces a natural division between the seats.
