BLEND is a new coffee bar located in the center of the Silicon Valley of Asia – Shenzhen. Its design caters to the taste of young techies populating the area of the industrial zone. Based on the location and the young demographic of the area, it was decided to have a minimalist approach to the design of both visual identity and interior, following the principles of the icon of clean design in the tech industry – Apple. All the materials were chosen to create a familiar vibe when a customer enters the shop.

The aluminum panels and light wood is a perfect combination of cold and warm, which are spiced with black furniture and red coffee cups. The bar area forms a cubical space fully made of metal and placed right in the center of the shop, topped with a grid of 64 lamps. The gray of concrete floor comes out from under the bar counter just enough for a person to stand, creating a visual indicator to where to line up to make an order.

The menu is placed on the aluminum wall of the “cube”. The BLEND logo is an alteration of a coffee bean, or to be more precise two halves of different coffee beans, which is clearly visible in the design of the door handle. This reflects the specialty of the brand – blending Ethiopian and Tanzanian coffee beans to create a unique taste.
