New Delhi based Sorted Design Studio has completed the first retail store for Surendri, a lifestyle and apparel brand for fashion designer Yogesh Chaudhary, in Gurugram, Haryana, India. The interior revolved around achieving the balance between tradition and modern using elements from both, enticing the customer into a relaxed yet dramatic shopping environment. The design concept reflects the true aesthetic of the brand – a juxtaposition of traditional with contemporary.

The design picks up from a concept of a traditional Indian village, where the entire setup is visualized in a farmland setting, with ombre painted display racks against white accents of the walls, giving a feel of the golden harvest. Elements like bull rack and bamboo walls add to the entire field setting. On the other hand the inverted runways with mannequins on the ceiling, the pac-man light gives a contemporary feel to the entire setting as well as reflects the designer’s experience and existence in the modern Indian fashion industry.
