In a city as steeply immersed in fashion, style and la bella figura as Milan, entering its boutique-infested retail arena takes a bit of an effort. But given Acne studios’ global track record in churning out sleek flagships, they needn’t worry except finding the right location. Well, the Swedish fashion house scored bull’s eye in that department. After a five-year search, the company managed to obtain the prestigious former premises of the Marc by Marc Jacobs boutique and café in the city’s upscale Brera district. The Acne studios flagship occupies the ground floor and basement of an 18th century building, and whose lower façade is marked by fourteen arched windows.
Inside, a contrasting modern and understated interior unfolds, captured by walls clad in sheets of shiny stainless steel and flooring of rosa baveno, a soft pink granite that’s quarried up north in the Lombardy region. The stuccoed ceiling has been dipped in a somewhat bolder pink hue, and forms the backdrop of a custom-made, futuristic lighting installation. Furnishings and fixtures are sparse and seamlessly matching, comprising of steel shelving and clothing racks, in addition to large granite tables and displays. The new Acne studios flagship carries the brands full range of men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, shoes, jewellery pieces and eyewear, in addition to select denim pieces.
