Teahouse allowed to be part of the universal landscape in the rural natural areas (Satoyama) that conserve rich nature through long quiet time. Kaibara domain (Kaibara-han) ruled by Oda Nobukane, the younger brother of Oda Nobunaga. To create the design as a first step to make the life of the town return to its former state of a castle town.

Be the design towards the future while conserving the landscape of the ‘Tamba Satoyama’. This plan was began with removing an old house that was built about 150 years ago.

How much closer to the needs of the times our design is, not by creating a new house but by changing the existing one………. while holding wishes of the ancestors. The rural natural area has an overwhelming mass and beauty of nature. My goal was a space comparable to the dignity of the nature.
