Ampersand Studio Inc., a retail strategy and design firm from Toronto, Canada redefines Island Fresh with the newly renovated Hurley’s store in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands validating that design has a quantifiable impact on the experience. The 30,000 square foot grocery store represents a transformation of the customer experience, including a refined go-to-market strategy, re-design of the brand identity, in-store digital and the launch of delivery service.
With a mixed global and local clientele, and heightened exposure to international cuisines, Hurley’s understood that a shift was required to continue to surprise and delight their customers. The new store represents the transformation from a traditional grocery store to an elevated food experience.
In partnership with Ampersand Studio, Hurley’s re-positioned itself as a place that celebrates food – international cuisines, local flavour and healthy options. The new Hurley’s store introduces several new experiences, including Raw Juice Bar, The Daily Grind coffee roastery, and café; Good Eats offering 64’ of gourmet prepared foods including a hot and cold bar with an eclectic, international menu and Hurley’s Eatery that serves as an anchor of this food experience with a curated offerings of local and international flavours and daily specials as well as an in store dining experience.
Across from ‘Good Eats’ is the fresh food beacon ‘Hurley’s Eatery’ a multi service point offering Stone oven pizza, Sushi, Burritos, Paninis and Rotisserie Meats.
Celebrating the lighter side of food and reminding customers that food is such a big part of our lives, from fuel to social gatherings we wanted to ensure Hurley’s voice was throughout the experience connecting with customers. Examples are strategically placed food focused quotes throughout the store, so shoppers may have a humorous moment in the day, reminding them food is an integral part of our lives usually tied to memorable moments.
