Following the revamp of boutiques and store openings across the planet, Valextra adds a second outpost in Hong Kong, continuing its non-generic design approach to retail design. The Milan-based luxury leather bags and accessories manufacturer has now opted for a unit at Harbour City, an upscale mall in the Tsim Sha Tsui area of town, and this time, commissioned London-based designer Max Lamb to create an interior design. To highlight the brand’s artisanal excellence and its Italian heritage, Lamb picked terrazzo, a composite material with Venetian origins, as the very foundation of his design. The terrazzo, especially created for the retail space, is omnipresent, covering the floor and walls, and even the furnishings and shelving feature a speckled motif. The designer has also created five uniquely shaped displays, all made from bronze cast in polystyrene foam. The backlit Barrisol ceiling adds a sense of spaciousness, and is framed by additional spotlights. The new Valextra store carries a selection of the men’s and women’s range of bags, pouches and small leather goods. Location: Harbour City, 3-27 Canton Road (Tsim Sha Tsui).
