A new Aesop store has bowed in the Shinjuku shopping district of Tokyo. Situated east of Shinjuku Railway Station, one of the Japanese capital’s biggest public transport hubs, it occupies a compact unit on the ground floor of a seven-storey 1980’s building. For its fifteenth signature boutique in the city, Aesop once again collaborated with Japanese practice Case-Real. Offering shoppers a tranquil oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the Shinjuku area, the setting sees a warm and inviting kind of understatement, captured by rough plaster walls with rounded corners and recessed niches, and sleek metal shelving paired with mirror-finish stainless steel cabinets. Similar to other Aesop stores across the planet, wash basins can be found on the premises, and here, the come in an elongated steel form, complementing the aforementioned cabinets. The new Aesop store carries the brand’s full range of skin, hair and body care products made from botanical and laboratory-generated ingredients of the highest quality.
