Chanel continues to expand its footprint in affluent Canadian market. Following the relocation of the Chanel shop-in-shop at Holt Renfrew Ogilvy in Montreal to the department store’s ground floor, the French fashion house has just finalised a similar relocation for its outpost in Calgary. Mind you, Chanel operates shop-in-shops at five Holt Renfrew department stores across Canada. So, the Chanel boutique now occupies a bigger and more prominent ground floor unit. Measuring 269 sqm. (2,900 sq.ft.), it features an interior design by Peter Marino, an acclaimed architect and longtime collaborator who has designed the majority of the fashion house’s boutiques and flagship stores around the world. The entrance, situated indoors, is adorned by an artwork by American painter Margaret Evangeline, depicting a camellia, a favourite flower of Chanel founder Coco Chanel (1883-1971). The store features the brand’s signature black and white design codes, alternated by lacquered wood and paired with travertine flooring. The full women’s collection can be found here, presented in various homey sections, including a salon dedicated to Chanel trophy bags and its jewellery pieces and watches.
