Conexus Studio put collaboration and wellness at the focus when designing and building the BBC Studios office located in Singapore. BBC Studios and BBC Global News worked with Conexus Studio to design and build a new space for the growing Singapore office, one of its APAC regional hubs. The design brief called for an innovative workplace solution to promote collaboration, workplace wellness and work style flexibility.
Designed to keep people and ideas flowing freely across a high-performing workplace, the interiors reflect the BBC’s work culture, where formal and informal as well as individual and group working spaces thrive in a setting that promotes collaborations and social interactions.
The interior design also honours the company’s commitment to sustainability and highlights a strong connection to nature with wooden elements and greenery seamlessly integrated throughout the office.
The design celebrates the building’s best asset: wraparound windows with commanding views of the bustling Central Business District. The layout is planned to leave most of the office basking in sunlight, where shifting light and shadows bring out the different moods and beauty of the natural textures throughout the day.
The office design also draws references from the local context. Sketches of Singapore attractions adorn meeting room doors, which double as privacy screens as well as eye-catching wayfinding signages.
Flanked by windows overlooking the building’s lush sky garden terraces, a wall tiled with patterns from Singapore’s Peranakan heritage and a panoramic sketch of the Marina Bay skyline, the work-cafe at the heart of the office conjures up a particularly inspiring sight. It’s no surprise that it has quickly become a favourite gathering and rejuvenating spot, fostering collegial connections and collaborations.
