Bariz reached out to us to unlock their brand’s true potential. Our project included a comprehensive Brand Strategy study, Naming, Tagline Creation, Brand Identity Design and Packaging Design services. Scroll down to explore the story of Bariz.

As always, we started the process with listening to the actual story of the company. By conducting one-on-one interviews with the stakeholders, we collected invaluable information about the vision of the founders and what made the product so special. Then we crafted the Brand Strategy.

With the goal of creating a unique and memorable overall brand experience, we needed a strong foundation and a brand story that could be easily understood and told to the target audience.

We set the brand purpose as ‘to create a gold standard among Turkey based extra virgin olive oils and to elevate the status of olive oil in society’. This definition consists of two parts. The brand’s commitment to uncompromising quality and its role as an expert sharing its wisdom with consumers.

For the brand personality, we identified two seemingly contrasting characteristics: Local and Visionary.

The brand is local, as their products are originated from a single source, in one region, and their producer has been living and working in that land for over four decades. They value working with local people and supporting local economy. However, their vision is to make the finest and healthiest olive oil ever, and eventually deliver that to the entire world.

That contrast created a ‘local hero’ icon, and a unique brand story to be told.

Once we set our Brand Strategy, we moved on with Naming and Tagline Creation. After exploring dozens of alternatives, we ended up with the name ‘Bariz’—a Turkish word that stands for ‘clear, obvious, apparent’, referring to its exceptional quality. For the tagline, our choice was ‘The Gold Standard in Olive Oil’.

After the strategy, name and tagline were finally defined, the design process began. Before exploring logo design options, we wanted to choose the container of our hero product, olive oil. Among all the feasible options, we selected a special bottle that matches the brand’s and the product’s qualities.

Next, we initiated the logo and packaging design process. We ran the process simultaneously to make sure that the signature bottle would beautifully nest our brand identity. With the Bariz team’s own words, selecting the winning design was the toughest part of working with us. They favored almost each and every one of the alternatives for particular reasons, and they had a hard time picking ‘the one’.

After the winning design was selected, we created the back of the packaging, as well as the Centaury Oil, Olive Oil Soap, can, and the Special Collection gift box.

Overall, with the help of strategy and design, we developed a premium brand that reflects the company’s exceptional quality products, and mission to produce the finest olive oil in the world. We wish Bariz the best of luck and success in its brand journey and pursuit of excellence.
