Bala was invited to design the label for GOSE for Cerveza Cru Cru, a beer where the main ingredient is the grasshopper, or “chapulín,” as this highly valued insect is called in Mexican cuisine.

One peculiar aspect of this beer style is the salty taste, as the original production used the salty water from the Gose River in Bavaria, Germany. This inspired the idea of adding grasshoppers to give it that distinctive flavor characteristic of GOSE.

The design by Bala is inspired by the image of the grasshopper, though the level of abstraction is very high. Bala sought to create an extravagant and peculiar image to express the unusual nature of the recipe. Hence, the letters of the word GOSE appear as a texture rather than conventional signs. An eccentric narrative completed with the inclusion of bright colors that allude to the acidic sensations of its great flavor.

The quality of GOSE from Cru Cru has led the brand to win 10 medals, including the award for the best GOSE in Mexico, Italy, and Argentina.
