The upper retail segment in Vienna continues to expand at an accelerated, and following the opening of boutiques by Van Cleef & Arpels, Dior and LOEWE, the latest luxury fashion house to arrive here is CELINE. Occupying a three-storey unit on the premises of a listed landmark building, the retail space features the lavish interior design codes as initially laid down by its previous creative director Hedi Slimane. In contrast with the historic ornate façade, the settings inside features a backdrop of the finest natural stones and materials, such as Grand Antique marble, paired with travertine stone, and Basaltina floors, which are laid all over, and are adorned with a chevron-patterned motif. Additionally, extra-clear mirrors, some tainted in antique gold, neon lights, and polished metal heighten the grandeur even further. Here, CELINE‘s women’s apparel, accessories, and leather goods by current creative director Michael Rider can be found, in addition to beauté & haute parfumerie merchandise.

A focal point, and a glamorous one at that, is the staircase leading to the first floor. Featuring cantilevered steps, it’s inspired by modernist and minimalist aesthetics. The first floor, designed with a darker palette of lacquered walls and different essences of wood, is home to the men’s collection. The second floor, accessible exclusively through a private elevator, enriches the store with an intimate salon as well as an enlarged fitting room, offering a more personal and comfortable experience. The furniture pieces used throughout the store and in every one of the multiple resting areas, comprise carefully selected vintage and contemporary pieces. Aligned with the ongoing CELINE Art Project initiative, a selection of curated art pieces elevate the shopping experience, such as a stoneware composition by Anders Hald, a painting by Jasmine Gregory, and sculptures by Rosalind Tallmadge and Marcelo Silveira. © superfuture
