Humans have collected and used minerals since the earliest civilisations. While some are prized as gemstones, many remain embedded in everyday life through glass, cement, ceramics, salt and graphite. Founded by young mineral collectors, Yeyeland seeks to share this appreciation with a wider audience, alongside desserts inspired by crystalline forms.

For Yeyeland’s Shanghai store, STUDIO 4/301 brought mineral exhibition, retail and dessert culture into a single interior, translating exploration, excavation and mineral formation into spatial organisation, material language and display systems.

A sculpted fibreglass intervention across the façade creates a mineral-like presence. Inside, the shop is divided into a mineral retail and exhibition area and a dessert zone beneath a suspended canopy. A floor-to-ceiling rock-like installation incorporating specimens anchors the space.

Selected minerals are encapsulated in resin flooring, while translucent fibreglass panels diffuse light and create a granular, glittering effect. Flexible fixtures accommodate specimens of different scales.

In the dessert area, green stucco, rotating metal shelves, illuminated fluorite and fibreglass tables continue the language. Through genuine specimens, experimental materials, adaptable displays and mineral-inspired food, Yeyeland presents collecting as a sensory and spatial experience shaped by light, texture, movement and taste.
