Cult fashion house ALAÏA is on a roll, expanding its retail presence in the planet’s top luxury shopping destinations, and needless to say, that includes Miami. The Paris-based brand has just inaugurated a standalone store in city’s undisputed hub of luxury brands, the Design District. Rubbing shoulders with the boutiques of leading brands, such as Hermès, Versace, Rolex, Miu Miu and Prada, the store occupies a ground floor unit of a modern building, featuring an interior design by Stockholm-based architecture practice and longtime collaborator Halleröd. Taking cues from Miami‘s renowned architectural Art Deco legacy, the store façade is clad in soft pink mosaic tiles, but the material also extends inside, covering walls, floor and ceiling. Interestingly, the expanse of the façade is playfully punctured by an opening which frames a planter designed by French botanist Patrick Blanc. The retail space features a series of intimate rooms, furnished with a tightly curated furniture selection curated by interior designer Martin Brûlé. On display is a quirky mix of contemporary design by leading designers, including pieces by Jean Prouvé, Ron Arad, Vladimir Kagan, Pierre Paulin and Philippe Starck, alongside custom made elements that reflect the boutique’s architectural aesthetic. Black leather seating, sculptural metal forms and glass accents offer a stark contrast with the pink backdrop while also emphasising ALAÏA‘s distinct aesthetic in fashion. The new ALAÏA store stocks a selection of the brand’s women’s apparel, accessories, bags and shoes.
