Design Brief:
Founded by an American and his Norwegian wife in 1970, Peppes Pizza was responsible of introducing American pizza to Norwegians. 40 years down the road Peppes is one of Norway’s most recognized brand names. The task given was to transform and refresh the brand identity. This process was lead by the ambition of highlighting the brands American heritage, and to articulate its status as the explorative pizza pioneer.

Design challenges:
To change elements of a brand that has a high level of consciousness in the public demands a critical process of gaining a deeper understanding of what constitutes the spirit of the brand. To create a sense of natural evolution; designing the look of a refurbished restaurant is a matter of refining the existing elements of importance. The balancing of this while adding new elements of surprise that confirms the brands identity as an inventive pioneer made this a critical challenge of strengthening the chains relevance.

Design results:
The result of our process is an environment that has caught positive attention from critics as well as the public. Our goal of bringing the Peppes up to date while conserving the DNA of what has been deemed a Norwegian cultural institution seems to be a success, creating buzz amongst the public as well as generating new energy within the corporate organization.
