The studio is located in 4th floor of high-fashion building “STANCE” in Yonago-city in Tottori prefecture, Japan. The client was a 180-year-old kimono dealer and they asked us to design a photo studio as their new business. We started the project by trying to create the space where family ties and growth of children are recorded with the keyword “Where a family stays = a house”. We transformed the house into a studio in the space and created “a comfortable feeling of strangeness”. Above the house shape studio, we informed an importance of free space to the client and provided scenes with good sense which could never be taken inside of the studio.
