JHP’s client SES has cut the tape on the refurbishment of one of its most prestigious shopping destinations, CITYPARK Graz, in Austria. JHP were commissioned by SES in 2012 to breathe new life into the centre, its building master planning, customer journey planning, way-finding, and the installation of new escalators, storefronts, entrances, and facades. Situated in the south west of the city, the newly refurbished 40,000 m2 CITYPARK is once again the new retail destination for Austrian fashionistas.
By relocating CITYPARK‘s escalators, JHP optimised the shopping centre’s customer circulation and made sure visitors could directly access the iconic Panoramaplatz and rooftop gardens from each floor. The design agency redesigned Panoramaplatz, which is now CITYPARK’s main food and events area featuring numerous dining options, an event space including a stage and seating and an impressive glass dome ceiling. JHP turned CITYPARK’s rooftop into a garden to enhance customers’ experience and to encourage them to rest, socialise, and use the catering facilities provided.
CITYPARK’s lower ground level has been converted to a young fashion area to attract a younger, more fashion conscious crowd. This was achieved by stocking the floor with crowd pulling modern brands and by adjusting the floor’s look, feel, and lightning. The centre has over 100 shops and is crowned by an eclectic food & beverage offer. The list of tenants includes fashion retailers such as H&M, Interspar, Benetton, Desigual and Esprit.
