Stuzzi – Italian Carioca!
A “carioca” spot with an Italian soul – this is Stuzzi, a place that brings the culture and delights of Italy with the irreverence that is the brand of Rio. Stuzzi, by the way, is a nickname for Stuzzichini, which are small portions like appetizers in Italy. The owners proposal of delicious dishes and the highly regarded drinks made the house a success in Leblon , the most trendy neighborhood in the city, which generated this second unit in Copacabana. This is where we come in.
We were invited to conceive the whole concept of environment and operation of the new unit, executed in partnership with Froma Arquitetura, but with one condition: to offer a unique experience, translating the essence of the brand, taking care not to be obvious, not making a replica of first unit. Challenge in mind, our first step was to do an immersion, which included visits, interviews and surveys.
Our concept has found the contemporary reading of recognized Italian elements, such as the classic Renaissance paintings. To them, we add a typical Carioca identity. In the environment, paintings and humorous objects translate the proposal. The kitchen should strengthen Stuzzi’s identity as a gastrobar earning high ceiling, lighting and showcase, making it a leading space for clients. Finally, during the immersion, we noticed the demand for more interaction between bartender and client. In this way, the bar won high seats allowing customers to sit directly at the bar.
