The planet’s biggest Saint Laurent store could only be found in Paris…right? Well, think again. As a city of superlatives, Dubai has claimed plentiful titles, and now also boasts a massive shrine dedicated entirely to the creations of Anthony Vaccarello, the brand’s newest creative director. The boutique is situated at Fashion Avenue, the newly opened extension of The Dubai Mall that’s entirely dedicated to luxury brands. Set across three floors, the Saint Laurent store presents the brand’s latest interior design codes as defined by the its previous creative director and cult icon Hedi Slimane. The palette is unapologetically luxurious, and includes a number of marble varieties – mind you, there’s white Carrara marble, black silk marble, and grey silver marble – nickel-plated brass, glass and leather.
The overall aesthetic loosely takes cues from the French modernist movement of the early 20th century, but the store’s palatial dimensions and plush materials overrule any trace of austerity, making shopping here a rather grand affair. Needless to say, this is Saint Laurent‘s regional flagship store, and as such, it comes with all the prerequisite bells and whistles. Two glamourous elevators in glass, mirrors and allow easy access of all floors, and the premises are also home to a VIP room furnished with vintage pieces that’s readily available to the most discerning of shoppers. As for the store’s offerings, there’s obviously a lot to choose from, including men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, leather goods, shoes, sunglasses, jewellery pieces, and fragrances.
