The concept of Plato 86 is inspired by “Chiringguito”, a Spanish word for a beach Shack style bar where people enjoy tapas. The style is relaxed and casual. Our intention is to bring the outdoor to the indoor, to recreate the beach environment through clever use of lighting and materials. Mallorquinas is an iconic reference to Mediterranean architecture of Barcelona. It is wood shutter that enables the control the light into the room. It can be found as part of the facade architecture in Spanish houses.
The use of material are very raw and natural. Salvaged hardwood are used as flooring to create the aged look. The wall is finished in bare concrete. The shutters that cast the light on the wall are made of solid oak wood.
