Inspired by the quaint French-colonial hill town of Sapa, Vietnam, this sprawling French-Vietnamese restaurant in Chelsea is an exercise in harmony and duality. The lofty white space, originally a church-administration office, blends the French with the Vietnamese in both the design and the cuisine to create a new dining experience.
Rather than forcing a fusion of disparate elements, Sapa integrates independent elements–a refined, neoclassical French aesthetic with the ornate patterns of traditional Vietnamese craft, the elegant and the rustic, the textured and the plain, the East and the West.
