Ever so popular on home turf, Onitsuka Tiger, now an entity of its own and operating independently from parent company ASICS, goes full throttle with its retail expansion. The latest store to open is in the heart of Nagoya, and is teh second largest retail space in the country. Occupying two floors on the premises of the Nagoya Mitsui Building, a soaring 20-storey structure which was inaugurated only five years ago, the retail space sees an interior design by Milan-based architecture practice Studio Dini Cataldi. The chosen aesthetic draws inspiration from the city’s cultural sophistication and industrial prowess, featuring a material palette and a design that blends precision, visual rhythm, and contemporary expression. Upon entering the lofty ground floor, shoppers find a light-filled setting with a robus canopy of light boxes, reminiscent of traditional Japanese Andon lanterns. Below, a configuration of sleek steel and glass furnishings and leather sofas are tied in by flooring of dark terrazzo tiles. The upper floor offers a similar setting, but here, there’s a bit more visual drama, featuring shelving units in Rosso Lepanto marble complementing the steel and glass furnishings and modular leather sofas. The new Onitsuka Tiger store stocks the full range of shoes and apparel for men, women and kids, including the brand’s NIPPON MADE and ITALIAN MADE merchandise. © superfuture
